Terms of Service - Codex Pets

Overview

These Terms of Service govern your use of Codex Pets, including the gallery, pet detail pages, downloads, install commands, CLI features, account pages, and submission tools.

By using Codex Pets, you agree to these terms.

What Codex Pets Provides

Codex Pets helps users browse, preview, download, install, and submit animated pet packages for the Codex app.

Codex Pets is not an official OpenAI product. OpenAI provides the Codex app and its pet feature. This site provides an independent gallery of compatible pet packages.

Accounts

You may need an account to submit pets, like pets, or manage your submissions. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity performed through your account.

We may limit, suspend, or remove account access if we believe the account is being used for spam, abuse, infringement, or harmful activity.

Downloading and Installing Pets

Pets, install scripts, ZIP downloads, and CLI tools are provided as available. You are responsible for deciding whether to install any pet package on your device.

You should inspect downloaded files if you have concerns. Do not install packages from sources you do not trust.

Submitting Pets

When you submit a pet package, you confirm that:

• You created the artwork, have permission to share it, or are submitting content you are legally allowed to distribute
• The package does not include malware, secrets, private data, or harmful files
• The package includes the required files, such as pet.json and a spritesheet
• The metadata you provide is accurate enough for users to understand the pet

By submitting a package, you allow Codex Pets to host, preview, display, distribute, and make the package available for download and installation through the site and related tools.

Review and Removal

We may approve, reject, hide, edit metadata for, or remove a pet at our discretion. Reasons may include duplicate submissions, broken files, unsafe packages, misleading metadata, rights concerns, spam, or content that does not fit the gallery.

We may also remove a pet after a good-faith takedown request from a rights holder or authorized representative.

Creator Credit

When available, creator credit may be shown on pet pages. You should not claim credit for artwork, characters, or packages you did not create or do not have permission to share.

Prohibited Use

You agree not to use Codex Pets to:

• Upload malware, tracking scripts, secrets, or harmful files
• Submit packages that infringe someone else's rights
• Harass, impersonate, or mislead other users
• Abuse install, download, like, or submission systems
• Attempt to disrupt the site, database, storage, APIs, or CLI flows
• Use automated scraping or bulk downloading in a way that harms the service

No Warranty

Codex Pets is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that every pet will work on every device, that the gallery will always be available, or that submitted pets will be approved.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Codex Pets is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to your use of the site, downloads, CLI tools, install scripts, or pet packages.

Changes

We may update these terms as Codex Pets changes. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the updated terms.
